Investing in Early Childhood – Promoting Innovation and Social Integration of Roma

 


The project is implemented by the Slovak Government Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities in partnership with Roma Educational Fund and Slovak Governance Institute. The project is implemented in 21 localities across the entire Slovakia. Roma mothers with children aged 0-5 are the main target group. They key project activity are reading clubs for mothers.
The main responsibilities of the Slovak Governance Institute include:

  • selection of localities and kindergartens for the implementation of the project based on SGI’s own experience as well as on the basis of methods recommended by a group of research experts from World Bank , Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab and Roma Educational Fund,
  • elaboration of methods, implementation and evaluation of baseline survey carried out in the selected localities with marginalized Roma communities (MRC),
  • training of interviewers for the purpose of the implementation of the baseline survey and guidance in terms of all questions related to the research.
